The Association of Ghana’s Elders (AGE) is a unique organization founded with the aim of addressing the concerns of senior citizens, advancing and promoting their interests through diverse innovations. We aim to rally senior citizens as a powerful bloc of stakeholders across multiple platforms on which they can engage productively for self, community and nation.
Mission
To ensure Ageing is a dignified process in Africa by advancing and promoting the interest of senior citizens through advocacy and diverse innovations
Vision
We envision an Africa where senior citizens are actively and productively engaged in their communities, and are healthy and happy with the quality of their lives.
Core Value
DIGNITY
Our focus and driving force is to ensure that ageing is a dignified process for everyone. To this end, we provide direct support, work with organizations and engage in advocacy to ensure that respect of older persons is not limited to lip service, but is demonstrated in tangible ways – making it easier for them to access and afford services.
In a cultural context where older persons are respected and given a lot of honor, the loss of independence (mainly financial and physical), as well as social exclusion rob older persons of any dignity and peace of mind. In some cases, there is elder abuse and neglect.
